Yoga Beginnings ~ A Foundation of Yoga Philosophy
Unravel the complex history of yoga
Have you ever wondered how the concept of yoga has carried through thousands of years? Are you curious about its origins, pathways and teachings over time? Does learning the roots of yoga seem like an overwhelming goal?
The yoga tradition is an oral one, so there’s no better way to learn about yoga than the way of the “old” yogis. By joining into a conversation on life to learn what the ancient sages knew, you’ll gather with other yogis for an oral journey along the yoga timeline to understand how the history and mythology evolved and emerged over the centuries.
Get started on the path to managing your curiosities and navigating the possibilities of life. Join me for the Yoga Beginnings Workshop where you will explore the history of yoga, terminology, classic texts, myth, mantra, and enter into a deeper conversation that comes from uncovering the essence of yoga. This workshop will show you the beginning tracks of yoga so you can see how it migrated over the centuries to what it is today. From the early teachings of the Vedas to the many different lineages that evolved, you will hear key, important period teachings that reveal the “ancient’s” views of the world and explore how those ideas shifted and carried through the centuries.
You will also get an overview of classic works including the Upanishads, the Bhagavad Gita, and the Yoga Sutras, to better understand what these texts can offer you and your practice. You’ll also learn and discuss:
